At the 2018 World Fiber New Materials Conference and the 24th China International Chemical Fiber Conference held last week, the Green Development Alliance of the Regenerated Cellulose Fiber Industry officially launched the three-year action plan for green development of the industry. The plan proposes that by the end of 2020, the average level of comprehensive energy consumption of alliance enterprises will be reduced by 10% from the beginning of the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, fresh water consumption will decrease by 31%, and total sulfur recovery rate will increase by 7%.

The plan clarifies the overall goal of the industry's development in the next three years, that is, through three years to establish a green communication public communication platform for mutual supervision and mutual promotion between industries, grasp and regularly announce the status of energy conservation and environmental protection in the industry, and propose the target of green development of the industry in a targeted manner. And the path, urge the alliance enterprises to improve environmental performance, so that the member companies of the alliance can reach the world's leading sustainable development level, and guide the global regenerated cellulose fiber industry to minimize the environmental impact of products and the whole life cycle.

The plan also proposes that the core work of China's regenerated cellulose fiber industry to promote green development in the next three years will be in the three aspects of raw material procurement management, production process management and product safety management. The main task of the industry development is to build an authoritative information release platform for the industry. Green industry chain sharing platform and industry sustainable development management platform.

According to statistics, in 2017, the output of China's regenerated cellulose staple fiber was 3.638 million tons, accounting for 67% of global production, and continued to maintain rapid growth. China has become a major producer and consumer of regenerated cellulose staple fibers worldwide.

The plan pointed out that the large-scale growth of single-line production capacity in the industry and higher industrial concentration have made China's regenerated cellulose fiber factory bring greater challenges to the environmental capacity of the region. Therefore, the industry urgently needs a group of leading enterprises to lead, through updating production equipment, increasing technological transformation and energy-saving and environmental protection investment, so that the comprehensive energy consumption and water consumption of the industry's tons of products continue to decline, and the total sulfur recovery rate is gradually increased to promote China's regenerated cellulose. The fiber industry continues to grow green.
